PONDERING... Supper One: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb OUTLINE ONLY (Revelation 19:6-10)

Supper One: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb (OUTLINE ONLY)
GIST: Jesus is coming, so rejoice, be ready, and worship.
SCRIPTURE: Revelation 19:6-10
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,
“Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
   the Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and exult
   and give him the glory,
for the marriage of the Lamb has come,
   and his Bride has made herself ready;
8 it was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” 10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

We have been covering very large chunks of Scripture in these lessons lately. Though purposeful, I know this can be overwhelming (for you and me both!). Today, however, we’re looking at far fewer verses, so breathe a little easier :D.
The remainder of Chapter 19 gives us another picture of Jesus’ second coming from two perspectives. They could be called two suppers. Today, we’re going to look at His return from the perspective of the saved. It’s this beautiful picture of the wedding supper of the Lamb. Next week, we’ll look at His return from the perspective of the lost, which is a somber warning and reminder of the seriousness of sin.
Let’s dive into this first perspective. Jesus is coming, so rejoice, be ready, and worship.

  1. Rejoice
6 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come,...9 And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
Jesus is coming for His Bride, and this is awesome. Here we are called God’s Bride. We are precious to Him.
Don’t take this blessing for granted.

  1. Be Ready
7b for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; 8 it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
We must be ready for His return.
But we cannot forget, He’s the one who makes us ready.
  1. Worship
10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
John did what!?
Don’t worship good instead of God. (Key verse in Revelation? Worship God.)

TAKEAWAYS:
  1. You are precious to Jesus.
  2. Live like it.
  3. Worship Him for it.
